Brent Whitfield is a highly accomplished soccer coach and athletic trainer with a distinguished career spanning both professional and collegiate levels. With a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton, and a specialization in Sport & Exercise Psychology, Brent deeply understands athletic training and player development. His credentials are further supported by the prestigious United States Soccer Federation National “B” License, which underscores his expertise in soccer coaching.

Brent Whitfield‘s coaching journey began with a significant tenure at Long Beach City College, where he served as the Assistant Coach for the Men’s Soccer Program from 2004 to 2011. During this period, he honed his player conditioning, team management, and scouting skills. His efforts were instrumental in shaping the program’s success and fostering future talent.

In 2011, Brent Whitfield transitioned to Villa Park High School, where he took on the role of Head Coach for the Girls’ Soccer Program. Over the next seven years, he played a pivotal role in developing the girls’ program, guiding players through rigorous coaching, conditioning, and recruitment processes. His commitment to the players’ growth was evident as he worked closely with them and their families, assisting in their transition to university programs.

Brent Whitfield’s expertise in scouting and recruiting is exemplified by his contributions to various programs, including the Youth National Team Scouting Network and the Cal South Olympic Development Program. From 2016 to 2018, he was involved with the US Training Center in San Diego, where he identified and evaluated players with potential for the Youth National Team. His role as a scout and recruiter for the Cal South Olympic Development Program further demonstrated his keen eye for talent and his ability to identify promising players for both the girls’ and boys’ programs.

In 2013, Brent Whitfield joined Cerritos College as an Assistant Coach for the Women’s Soccer Program. His tenure at Cerritos College was marked by remarkable achievements, including five California Community College Athletic Association State Championships and an impressive overall record of 151-9-9. Brent’s leadership and dedication were crucial to the program’s success, as he managed team practices, scouting, and recruitment while fostering strong relationships with coaching staff, players, and parents.

Brent Whitfield’s professional playing experience includes stints with Chivas USA in Major League Soccer (MLS) during the 2006 season and the Chivas USA/Los Angeles Galaxy Reserves from 2007 to 2009. He also played with the Seattle Sounders in the USL during the 2005 season. This hands-on experience as a professional athlete has positively influenced his coaching approach, providing him with a unique perspective on the demands of high-level competition.

Beyond coaching and playing, Brent Whitfield has made significant contributions to the youth soccer community as the Director of Coaching for the Southern California High School South Region All-Star Program. He also served as the Director of the Girls Youth Program at Anaheim Surf, where he supported and guided other coaches while overseeing the development of young players.
